Valentine's Day
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, so we hope you have written your love notes!
Valentine’s Day is celebrated around the world on the 14th of February and is an excuse to shower your partners with flowers, chocolates, gifts, and LOVE! There are many stories as to how Valentine’s Day first came about, however, the day has origins to an ancient Roman festival called Lupercalia. Between the 13th – 15th of February to celebrate the coming of Spring, the Romans would have a ritual in which men and women were paired off by picking names out of a jar.
So why is chocolate a popular gift for Valentine’s Day?
Up to 58 million pounds of chocolate is purchased during Valentine’s week! That’s a lot of chocolate, right? Chocolate is known to be an aphrodisiac, containing tryptophan and phenylethylamine, which are the two chemicals that increase your desire and energy levels. So make sure to buy your partner some chocolates for this Valentine’s!
