Bath's best afternoon tea
It’s National Afternoon Tea Week! The quintessentially English tradition is still as popular as it was in Georgian times, and what better place to go for afternoon tea that in the beautiful city of Bath! Here at Choc on Choc, we love having Bath as our nearest city and we want to share with you the top spots to get your afternoon tea fix!
1. The Pump Room.
Famous for being the heart of Bath for hundreds of years, the Pump room is at the top of our afternoon tea list! The Pump Room is renowned for its elegance and for being Bath’s social hub! There is even live music with a resident pianist!
Morning menu including coffee and baked goods: 10 am – midday. Sparkling brunch menu: 9.30 am – 11.30 am. Lunch menu: Midday – 2 pm. Afternoon tea packages: Midday – close. British bites afternoon tea menu: 2.30 pm-close. Traditional afternoon tea at £27.00 | +£9.50 for a glass of Champagne.
2. The Regency Tea Room.
Located inside the Jane Austin center, the Regency Tea room is perfect if you’re looking for an elegant ambiance with period themes. All of the staff are dressed in full regency regalia, making you feel as though you have stepped through time as you enjoy your mini sandwiches and loose-leaf tea!
Open daily from 10 am – 5 pm | £37 for two people | +£28 per two people for a bottle of champagne.
3. The Bath Bun.
Originally dating back to 1761, the tea shoppe still serves the famous Bath Bun! The Bath Bun is filled with historical items and really makes you feel the history of the city of Bath that we know and love. It is also known for having the finest selection of cakes that are all also homemade. Additionally, the fine china cups and staff in period costume really gives off a lovely effect!
Open daily from 11 am – 5 pm | Reasonably priced.
4. Hands Georgian Tea Room.
Just down the road from Bath Bun is Hands Georgian Tea rooms, this terrifically traditional tearoom has over 20 expertly chosen and unique teas on offer! They are famous for their high tea and clotted cream tea! Their scones are baked daily, fresh from their own oven as well. They too offer live music with their in-house pianist!
Open Tuesday – Thursday, 9.30 am – 4.30 pm and open on Friday and Saturday from 11 am – 4.30 pm | £13.50 per person.
5. Jolly’s Tea Room.
A hidden gem, Jolly’s Tea Room is actually located within the Jolly’s department store itself. It offers a wide range of food and drink, catering for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. They really do have something for everyone here, as they even take bespoke requests. The décor itself is quite different from the places mentioned previously as it is a lot more modern and chic.
Open from Monday – Wednesday, 9.00 am – 5.30 pm, Thursday – Saturday, 9.00 am – 6.00 pm and on Sunday from 10.30 am – 4.30 pm.
